City of Austin Adds a 3rd Business Skills Certificate Ceremony in 2025

News & Blog

The City of Austin has added a third Business Skills Certificate ceremony this year—marking another major milestone in the city’s investment in small business training. This expansion is a direct result of record participation: the number of local business owners completing the required 18 hours of classes has more than tripled since last year.

To keep the celebrations personal and meaningful, the City is now hosting three separate events throughout the year to recognize these achievements. Distance Learning Media is proud to support this growing program, helping entrepreneurs across the city build new skills, grow their businesses, and stay competitive in today’s changing economy.

Small business owners and nonprofit professionals who participate in the city’s small business training program can earn a certificate and typically includes two different “graduation” ceremonies hosted by City leadership. The program is growing and as a result, this year the city has decided to add a third ceremony. At DLM we could not be happier with this result. It makes us proud that so many participants are taking at least six classes. Wondering what people think of the classes? Google City of Austin Economic Development and read the reviews. We’re grateful for the opportunity to facilitate these important educational programs.

The deadline for classes completed in order to earn a certificate for the upcoming August 18th ceremony is August 7, 2025. There will be another recognition in December for those who complete their 18 hours by the first week of December.
