Distance Learning Media (DLM), in partnership with the City of Austin, proudly hosted a Certificate Graduation Ceremony honoring local business owners and nonprofit professionals who completed 18 hours of training through our programs.
To mark the occasion, DLM brought in one of our most popular new facilitators, former Major League Baseball player Ben Broussard, to deliver the keynote address.
Ben spent seven seasons in Major League Baseball with the Cleveland Indians, Seattle Mariners, and Texas Rangers, hitting 87 home runs and driving in 314 RBIs during his career. But his message to graduates went far beyond statistics.
He spoke candidly about navigating the highs and lows of professional sports, facing setbacks, and learning how to adjust when the path forward isn’t clear. He shared powerful stories about mission work with his family in Central America, discovering a passion for music after baseball, and stepping onto the stage again — this time with a guitar in hand. His core message resonated deeply: keep doing the work, believe in the long game, and be willing to adapt.
As one of DLM’s facilitators, Ben brings this perspective into our Executive classrooms — blending leadership, resilience, and practical insight for entrepreneurs building their next chapter.
The event was energetic and inspiring. Graduates celebrated their accomplishments, connected with one another, and stayed afterward to take photos and continue conversations with Ben and the DLM team.
We are proud of our participants and grateful to the City of Austin for investing in local business owners committed to growth.
At DLM, education is about more than information — it’s about equipping people to move forward with confidence.
Congratulations to our newest certificate graduates.
