Lead with learning.

At DLM, we believe in success. We’ve seen a lot of it, both inside and outside of our classrooms. Our tech education curriculum and workforce development programs have helped thousands of people, including many small and medium-sized business owners, thrive and grow for more than 15 years.

But it’s not just the quality of our classes or our custom program development that sets us apart. It’s our sense of the business community as an ethos. The more small business owners, nonprofit professionals, and C-level thinkers that come together to learn, compare common experiences, explore their wins, their losses, their successes, and challenges too – the better it is for the entire community we serve.

“At DLM, we don’t just believe in success. We help people make their own success happen. We’re actively helping local business communities thrive.”

– CJ Niehoff, Co-Founder & COO

We’re the Toolkit People

Every DLM training session includes a helpful gallery of resources we call a Toolkit. They’re very popular.

Our instructors are world-class.

Our instructors are seasoned professionals, educators par excellence who bring real-world experience into every classroom. Our programs are designed to serve not only those who own and operate businesses and are already successful, but those just starting out, trying to get there on their own terms.

From bookkeeping and business plans, beginner through advanced AI courses and labs. From small-business training to custom corporate and executive leadership programs, our knowledge base and qualified instructors help address uncertainties in today’s business and community climates and focus on enhancing strategic vision, leadership influence, and decision-making under uncertainty for middle management and senior leaders alike.

Our Toolkits have real impact.

Every DLM training includes a toolkit for participants to access after class. We’re kind of famous for them. We never want someone to leave our training and think “that could have been an email,” and we don’t want people having to search Google for resources and tools that our instructors have just talked about in class. So, we put it all together with templates, guides, ebooks, videos and more to make sure there is enough to get started and for some to dig a little deeper. We love being the toolkit people.

One participant at a time, we're building communities.

We have worked with many cities and government organizations. We are the official small business training arm of the City of Austin Economic Development Division and our curriculum is used to train veteran entrepreneurs for the Texas Veterans Commission.

We’re based in Central Texas, but we’re reaching far beyond just this region.  We work closely with major brands including Google, Microsoft, SEMrush, Constant Contact, GoDaddy and Alignable. We host online communities. We have trained more than 15,000 veteran entrepreneurs over the past few years. We’ve trained hundreds of thousands of small businesses and nonprofits across the US, in Canada and the UK.

Here's some of our history. It just might inspire you to work with us. Good things are happening here.

  • We started as a video producer and a marketing consultant in 1995. Once in a while, we worked together on a project. Then we really cut our teeth building tech tools for the meetings industry. By 2015, we realized that everything we do together ends up teaching or training people in some way. It’s what we do best.
  • In 2016, we decided to join forces by bringing a combined 50 years of experience in marketing, media, research, training and tech all together under one roof. We formed Distance Learning Media, LLC and are now able to pool our time, energy and resources in a way that makes innovation faster and less expensive for our clients.
  • We have more than 50 clients and 400 partners around the globe. We’ve created events and curriculum for more than 30,000 events and classes and more than 1 million people have particpated since 2006. Going forward, we will continue to grow by empowering other people and companies to grow along with us.
